American Legend Wheels offers a massive congratulations to Gary Myers on taking out the 2017 Street Machine of the Year (SMOTY) – one of Australia’s biggest custom car awards. Hosted by Street Machine magazine (Australia’s longest running, highest selling and most widely read custom car magazine), this annual award is highly sought after by every Australian custom car builder. Additionally, Gary is the first-ever, three-time winner in the award’s 29-year history.

Outfitted with a set of American Legend 18×7 and 20×13 three-piece Phantoms, Gary’s 1972 XA Falcon hardtop beat out an incredibly high-quality field of street machines and street rods. The 16 SMOTY finalists are selected from the feature cars that appeared in Street Machine magazine during the preceding 12 months – with the readers voting for their favorite.

Gary is Australia’s burnout king, with AGROXA purpose-built as a competition burnout beast. Highlights of this tire-frying weapon include a 1000hp, methanol-slurping 360ci Dart Windsor that revs past 9000rpm thanks to its Littlefield 8/71 blower and mechanical injection. There’s also a full chassis underneath, RRS strut front end, four-link rear and DBA brakes all ’round. AGROXA has its own Facebook page and a quick web search reveals several videos of the Aussie hardtop effortlessly turning perfectly good tires into massive clouds of acrid, white smoke.
